I have a 90 gal, a 46 gal bowfront, and a 10 gal tht was SUPPOSED to be a temp qt that now has two angelfish in it (until my MIL takes them off my hands) now I am thinking of experimenting with that tank and using it to hold my cuttings before I ship them out etc. My husband keeps telling me 2 is enough and I am thinking......who are you kidding? I am just getting started! lol

They are all planted by the way....or at least the 10 is on it's way.....do any of you have a holding tank for your cuttings? I was thinking about starting to sell them to the LFS.

Grow-out tanks for plant cuttings are not uncommon. At one time I had four foil breadpans on the counter with plants in them. My wonderful husband didn't say a word! I shipped those all out and I discard my trimmings unless I'm getting ready to ship them to someone. I also took some trimmings to the lfs a few times. I got a bottle of Flourish as a trade and the other time I got a magazine and a few airstones.

Just wait till you start looking at the salt water tanks. Plants that move because they're really animals. Then you realize You need the cutting tank for the fresh water, a frag tank for the salt water, and that used water from the fresh water makes for some great jungle terrariums.

And and and...oh look, there's some sweet deals on ebay right now! Sorry, gotta run.

Ha ha Happy girl! What goes around comes around.

Remember when you suggested I get a Fluval to solve my CO2 diffusion problem (which worked of course)?? Well that freed up that 10 gal sump, which is now its own tank with 4 dwarf puffers in it. I wouldn't say it's a holding tank for my cuttings, but it is easy and conveneint for keeping a plant for a day or two without having to mess up the aquascaping of my 55 gal.

I started using my 10g QT as my cuttings tank recently. :D With all the plants I've started selling, its easier to make bunches and plant them in the QT.

Just wait until you realize you have 7 tanks setup........yeah, I'm running out of room. :D

7 tanks....I can see it now...My house is only 1200 sq ft and it has a 90, 46, and a 10 set up.
My kids are gonna think they are living in an aquatics store soon.

I actually have plans to build a really cool atrium one day with a hot tub (created to look like a natural pool with a waterfall) where two walls of the entire room are tanks (or one really huge one and several smaller ones) and also have the room serve as a green house of sorts for all of the outdoor plants that can't survive a harsh Montana winter. I can already see the rocky waterfall wall planted with various ferns and other shade loving plants. My mother in law will be living with us one day and she has the most amazing gardens and green thumb....I am sure that would be a lovely retirement for her getting to play with plants all day long. :)

THAT would make me so happy. :) Well, happieR anyway. :) It might give me a place to hang out in the winter and feel warm when its 10 below zero outside....our winter is LOOONNNNGGG and can get depressing.

OR I could just build a really big house with fish tanks in the walls of ALL the common areas.....what do ya think??? Resale value you say??? Why would I ever want to leave? hee hee hee....WAIT....maybe I could do both........

OKI I'll admit it, I may need some medication for my MTS at this point.....ha ha ha

An easy way to feed your MTS in a small house is to setup a 1/2 gallon pico. Fun little space and ups the count by one!

Joy, you are feeding my sickness you know.....they do have some pretty cool containers at wal-mart......hee hee hee. ;)

Your MTS is not unreasonable IMO. I had 1000 sq feet and 11 tanks. I had to get rid of my kitchen table temporarily to house a 75 gal. We had to move to a bigger house. Now I have 2300 sq feet. LOL. Just a warning, this is the beginning.

I had been referred to a specialist in this department by a friend, Dr. Ivana Phistank. :p

When I lived in VT, the house was only 960 sq.ft. The cellar had more than 40 tanks... anywhere from 10g to 150g.

I have a spare 1.5G I had all these plans to start a pico thing.... then aside from some plants as per Joy's suggestion, I had no idea what fauna I could reasonably put in it. Even shimp seemed to be a bad idea... I mean, how many shrimp can you put in that thing? And I'm just not into snails.

So I bought a big tank instead. No more MTS for me for a while!

Bad Shazzy... bad bad bad Shazzy.... ;)

I guess if we enjoy it so it doesn't have to be a bad thing. :) It's like gardening indoors, which is very stress releiving and then for me it gives me something to do when I am bored, I can always play around in the planted tank. :)

I could see myself in a house where there is a fish tank built into every wall and each one is different. Like a museum or art gallery of fish tanks.....That would be awesome!
