would co2 help them bounce back at all? also if i cut them too short will that decrease light intake?

Co2 couldn't hurt, and typically it mostly helps plants photosynthesize and use up the nutrients in the water before the algae can get do it. As long as you have proper lighting.

How big is your tank? Two 24 watt bulbs wouldn't be enough light if your tank is more than 50 gallons. How long are you leaving the lights on every day? It should be no less than 10 hours EVERY day.

Its a 36g...and i usually leave the lights on for about 10hrs each day, i just didn't know if 12hrs was overkill on lighting

Ok, after 4 days my lutea and corkscrew vals are gettin crickled and brown around the edge of the leaves!! Brown means not enough lighting?

Most of my plants deteriorated when they were just planted but came back after a couple of weeks.

Its excel that melt vals, Im using comprehnsive, i dose half a cap twice a week once midweek and once sunday after my pwc.

I dose 2 tanks that have vals daily with excel. I haven't gotten any negative effects, actually it helped them spread faster. It all depends and how much you dose. I add .5ml to the recommended dosage.

I ve heard bad things with excel when vals are thrown into the mix, Im glad u aint having any problems. I use the comprehnsive and tbh i dont see any positives coming out of using it.
