a moss that is less bushy than java moss.... and a true aquatic... probably not many options out there. Flame moss/xmas moss are about the same in the "bushy" category.
 
There are some other options out there... depending on your setup. If you aren't averse to a lot of maintenance and trimming, riccia looks great tied to a stone, and can be maintained much closer to the hardscape than java moss with some pruning and trimming. It needs higher light and CO2 to really thrive though.
