Vines

i would say that java moss is the closest thing and other mosses becasue they will just keep climbing over whatever they are growing on.
 
Most of the Hydrocotyle genus (H. verticellata, H. leucocephala, and H. sibthorpioides) grows as a runner-type vine. You can train it to climb the hardscape in your tank and it will actually grow emersed if you let it climb out of the top. It may take some experimentation to get it to do what you want, but it would be an interesting experiment at that :)
 
I was thinking a vine type of plant would be good to hide stuff like airline tubing, and other stuff.

I wouldn't suggest using anything vine like to hide tubing. I would consider using taller plants to hide it. Just so you wouldn't have to worry about clogging.
