Annoying HOB problem.

I use an HOB filter on my FOWLR just for chemi pure elite, and occasionally floss if the water needs some polishing. Problem is, whenever I move media around in the filter, anything caught in the media gets shot back into the tank. Even If I turn off the filter, then move the media, then turn it back on. I always end up with a tank full of debris when I wanna change my floss. Does anyone have a way around this? thanks!!

You can hold your fish net under the return when you turn it back on to catch the debris
