Need help on tank design

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about to upgrade the tank from 24"x16"x18" without sump. To 36"x18"x18" main tank and 30"x 16"x16" sump.

Anyone have any suggest drawing? My idea is in the attached file. I also have some question regards the sump option. I still don't know if I should go with what kind of sump.

A. 3 compartment sump (1) Water inlet into the filter bag with skimmer (2) Live rock. (3) carbon and nitrate reactor (4) pump up to main tank.

B. 2 compartment sump (1) Water inlet into the filter bag with skimmer and leave 1st compartment wide open with carbon bag and micro algae (2) pump up to main tank.

C. refugium 3 compartment (1) Water inlet into the filter bag with skimmer. (2) flow in from top into 2nd compartment refugium with deep live sand bed and micro algae and Goby (3) then flow from top to 3rd compartment and pump up to main tank.

Question:

1. Anyone have any suggest drawing?
2. Normal or refugium sump?
3.)Which sump should I go with (A, B and C)?

Many thanks.

Hi Crister13 and everyone,

How about if I want to go with Refugium sump. Is this design and dimension good to go?

By chance, do you have any idea if I go with refume, what kind of maintenance do I will be facing?

Cheers!

I wouldn't do your design comet. Just switch the middle compartment and the compartment on the right and it'll be golden. You should have the total flow in the sump one direction so ALL water passes through skimmer and fuge. So skimmer->fuge->return. Like this.
