sump space problem

Getting ready to buy a new skimmer-220 fish only-predators big eaters-OK, please answer this question-I have the three section sump. Frist section has water coming from tank--second section I have rocks/sand--third section is return water to tank. What would I lose (remove rocks and sand) if I moved my skimmer to middle section? Right now in first section is the BM-200 skimmer. But this section also has water hoses and sock holders. So I really have much less room in that section. Again what do I lose if I moved skimmer to middle section?

Nothing but unless that sandbed is deep enough it will come back to bite you in the future I'm not a lover of having sand beds in a sump so may be best to remove it.

When removing sand drain sump fully and replace with all new water as stiring a sand bed up can release some right nasties !!
