Bacteria from fresh water tank to saltwater?

Hi im starting to cycle a new saltwater tank but i thought i could speed the process if i got 5 gallons of water from the freshwater tank to add bacteria to the saltwater tank and i think it worked becase the water this like green now which im sure is a bacterial or algea bloom. do you think this helped?

They are not the same bacteria. It will not work. Also the bacteria is not in the water. It resides on surfaces like the LR and substrate. You have to start all over and cycle it the SW way. We have an article in the Sw articles about cycling.
