Hey guys, my boyfriend got me a 20 gallon tank for my birthday this year and I love fish now. My favorite are clown loaches.

Hi! Sorry to say, clown loaches get up to 12 inches and need 100+ gallons. But you can still have a really much tank! Something like
6 rumynose tetras
6 Cory catfish
2 German blue rams
1 honey gourami

I'm not sure yet I was thinking 55.

55 gives you a lot of options, but still no clown loaches. A couple schools of tetras(2-3 with 6 per school), a pair of angels or apistos(another option is rams), a large school of cories(8-10), and a couple livebearers would make for a interesting, colorful tank.
