30" skimmer vs. 36" skimmer

Well I don't have the standard ER vs. ASM question but it's kinda close. Both are about the same size but let me tell you the differences.

RS8-3 w/ new beta pump that supposed to inject twice as much air, skimmer is 30" tall (normally comes with a sedra 5000)

or a ASM G-4+, 36" tall and comes with a sedra 9000 pump.


So will the extra 6" on the ASM really make much of a difference or will the new beta pump on the ER make up for that 6" in height?

Teh 6" will definately help. It will give you more bubbles and more contact time. The new beta pumps are not any better then the sedras. The only reason they switched was availibility issues.

Really I was told that they are "supposed" to produce twice the bubbles. I had a hard time beliving that but I didn't have anything to go on.....

Decisions, decisions....I just can't imagine even with a new pump it would outperom the 6" taller ASM....

the taller tube helps alot more then the extra bubles.....well... it really depends oh how much extra bubles. so basicly this reply doesn't help at all
