Noisy mag 5

I just replaced my Rio pump with a Mag 5 and the Mag is so noisy that it's driving me crazy. The pump is brand new and I have a piece of filter pad under it to absorb some vibration. Any ideas on how to quiet it down or should I just return it? Thanks for looking.

Pull it apart and clean it. Step 1 with any noisy pump.

Yes. Always a good suggestion as the impeller could simply not be lining up right in there...or maybe it's damaged. You won't know until you look.

Ok.....I'll pull it apart tomorrow. Had my filter off for a while while I did a water change and changed out the pump so my temp fell a little, because my heater is in my sump. Don't wanna stress my critters too much

My brand new mag drive pump was horribly noisy for the first few days, and then it just got quiet, all on its own. No idea why.

Oh boy I have a new mag 15 to put in and I always heard they were quiet. I should probably do a dry run before hand (with water)
