I have this old ice melter bucket. The bucket itself is HDPE. The main active ingredient is salt but it also contained other stuff. The bucket is now completely empty other from some cobwebs. I was wondering if this is safe to clean and use for stuff like sand rinsing and water changing, or if i should just not risk it and get a new bucket. Also, if I can clean it, what method should I use. Thanks.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. I just got a new bucket from the store and that's my designated aquarium bucket.

I agree with dreaminginblue, don't risk it. Heavy duty 5 gal. plastic feed buckets are fairly cheap and durable.
