I have a nice sized protein skimmer. When I first put this skimmer into action it collected tons of gunk. Alot of the gunk was algae that was killled buyt the UV I put in at the same time.

My point being that I witnessed the skimmer working very well.

Recently, however, I do not always see foam rising into the cup and the liquid in the cup is very clear. Is it possible my skimmer is not working well or is my water quality so improved that there is not much to remove from the water?

Thanks,
Pete R.

I guess I coulda read your sig for that :)

I would agree with what FishFreek said. give it a real good cleaning. My seaclone slowed down once, I cleaned everythng real good and it picked back up.

Make sure all the tubing, and pump and everything isn't clogged up.

Thanks for the advice. I think I figured out my main problem. I adjusted the gate valve so that the sump level was below the skimmer return and the skimmer instantly started spewing foam. The cleaning is still good advice according to the manual as awell.

Thanks again,
Pete R.
