I wish to buy a shrimp/fry-safe powerhead. I mean even shrimp and fry be sucked into the intake of powerhead, they will not be killed/wounded. Another prefer feature is easy cleaning of plant debris if that is attached to the intake. Which powerhead meets this requirement?

If its not too big an eyesore, you could use a regular sponge filter and fit the powerhead to the tube. I use several in some big grow out tanks and they work wonderfully. I rinse them out once or twice a week. What size tank are you trying to outfit? What kind of shrimp and fry?

It's a 58 gallon planted tank with red cherry shrimp and guppy, molly, platy and some others fry. I thought about the sponge filter and do not like it much due to its bulky size. I am currently using a fine mesh to cover my filter inlet and clean it every other day.

Try a Hydor ph. I have seen my snails crawl across them and not get injured.
