I have a skimmer that I have been using for about 6 months. Sorry I dont have the name, but it is your normal type with a pump and air tube, and a cylinder that has a collection cup on top. my cup has a hole drilled and a tube coming out for collection into another vessal.
yesterday, I noticed that the gallon jug I was using is full and spilling onto the floor. previously there was barely a cup in it each week at WC time. What would make a skimmer go apeshoot and start wet skimming all of a sudden? I had not changed the levels, only increased the time of day the skimmer was on, from the 6 hour day cycle to the longer actinic cycle.
I since removed the long exaust arm and adjusted the water level to a more reasonable skim.
