wet/dry filter parts

Right now I am focused with the tubing from the pump to the nozzle (such a tight fit!). With the plastic tube, I can barely get it past the 2nd ring on the nipple. Should the tube go all the way to the base of the nipple, or is it ok if it is on there VERY snug?

I soak my flex tube in very hot water to soften it, then it is very easy to slip it over the barbs.

Having a hose hooked just to the 2nd ring is a bit dicey .... you can have a lot of water on your floor if the connection falls apart.
