K guys if all goes well I'll be getting my last aquarium tomorrow. This WILL not be a species only tank like my other 55gs that
Are stocked with goldfish and the other African cichlids. So I'm going to list some
Of the things I like and hope someone comes up With my perfect stock :)

Bolivian rams
Neon / cardinal tetras ( large schools )
Gardenri killifish ( need more info )
angels ( koi are my fav )
Denison barbs ( I cannot afford )
Rummynose ( if they weren't so shy ) lol lol
Blue tetras
Glass cats
False Julie cories ( already have one )
Clown loaches ( used to be crazy about )
Glofish ( who don't think they are cool )
Rainbow shark ( I know they can be aggressive )
Koi swords

So I know I want a large school of neon or cardinal tetras. ( MUST) I want maybe two are three BIG schools....of fish. What other fish make great Schools??? ( no more rummys I love them but they are to Shy )

So maybe a couple bolivians for center piece fish or angels? ( both??)

A school of Cories...

Any ideas of fish I might like based on this ???

If you want an angelfish you cant have small tetras like neon and cardinal because they will eat them get 1 or 6 because if you have three or more or less they will make the others miserable with 6 they cant pick on each other as much get blue tetras swordtails mollie platys get bigger tetras no rainbow shark will pick on other fish and if you want some school fish stick t the angel and livebears like sword tail and platies mollies get a few though cause they will soon start breeding. good luck

What about bolivians and tetras :)

bigger tetras like my favs blueberrys and purple but theres also flame xray and more tetras and i would say no to the bolvians

You can put rummynose/danios in with angels because there is no way an angel will ever catch either of those fish, if they even tried, unless there is something wrong with the tetra/danio.

And Bolivian are the few cichlids that don't mind an angel so they go well together in a community tank. I wouldn't get more than one B. Ram. though otherwise they'll find a cave and when they get to mating they'll destroy anything that comes near it.

Glofish are gorgeous little fish. I have some myself. They would look amazing in any aquarium.

Ahhh this is so hard... Lol what do you guys think about a tank full of schooling fish? Neons... Zebra danios.... Glofish... Maybe rummynose ??? There are some orange tetras too I can't think of the name lol do danios school???

Yes Danio school.
You could do a schooling fish tank, but I would get a couple centerpiece fish.
It really just brings out the balance in the tank, for me anyway.
You should also get a bottom dwelling fish.
Most of the fish you have selected in that last post will hang out near the middle of the tank.
With the exception of the Danio who will likely spend a lot of time around the top as well.

Buuuut, like I said that's personal opinion. ; ]

you absolutely must get a rainbow shark:) unless the other fish look like it there shouldnt be a problem

Lol I want your guys opinions. I would love to do a huge school of rummies and neons/cardinals but I'm afraid of the rummys since I have had some for over 2 wks and they still don't like me :( I do like rainbow sharks alexx haha I'm undecided on bottom dwellers at the moment except I do really like cories now :)

I really love Denison barbs but I can't afford them.

I stuffed my grandmas new filters with her old and new cartridges so I'm thinking of snagging the old ones for a cycle :D

I agree that angels will eat your neons. Rams and angels do fine together. Angels should be ok with most larger tetras. I like glass cats too, but I have never owned them. Clown loaches get big and like to be in groups. Corys rule.

Ok thanks for the advice so far... I think I'm leaning toward a tetra community with Cory cats and maybe just maybe some danios / glofish

I know how much you like the Bolivian rams... I mean, if you're ever going to get them, get them now! :) If you don't you might never, and you have a big enough tank for them. And I love my little cories. :)

I have a pair of rams and mine still seem rather shy! They hang out together behind plants in the lower part of the tank. But so long as you have other fish that are there then your tank would probably be great! Rams are pretty little buggers, and although expensive, I'd say you should get a pair ;)

You can keep angels with neons and cardinals. You say they will get eaten but have you ever tried it yourself? My neons were not eaten by my angel because adding angels when they are young while the neons are big will reduce aggression. It makes neons seem more like companions than food.

OK so here is one potential stocking list....
2x bolivian rams
15x neon/cardinal tetras
8x serpae tetras
10x rummynose tetras
6 false julii corys
8 longfin zebra danios ( or some sort of danio )

What do you guys think???

So I'm playing around on aquaadvisor LOL wow..... so many options for my 55g :D

Only thing I can say is that Serpae tend to be a little nippy and may go after some fish. If you want a 100% peaceful tank (by general rule) they might "stir the water". Also, I might have mentioned this before, be careful with pairing B. Rams. They tend to be VERY territorial when they start to mate. They will go after anything that comes near. Otherwise, I like the tank a lot! It's very similar to mine!
