Aw man... I liked how that stone was flat... Lol, maybe I can rotate it. I was also thinking of swapping positions with the large rock just to its left. Thanks! :D

Nah. Personally I wouldn't swap it. That flat rock. It's growing on me where its at right now haha. I think for me, it depends on the plants going on around it :)

Im liking the aquascape!

I want a 12 long now haha

I'm trying to plan ahead guys. Trying to place the rocks how I like them, and also consider the HC is gonna hide the lower parts and smaller stones. It's a little tricky! Guess ill just have to keep that carpet trimmed!

I love it! I guess you won't be needing any powder type  ... And I guess I shall go find that background at Home Depot lol what's it called?

Thanks Dan. Yeah, I was glad that I was happy with the size of the standard aqua soil. It's perfect. I can still send you the background if you want. You'll have to pay me shipping, though. ;)

After more inspection. I've grown to like the flat rock on the right :)

However I do agree with Brian. That middle left small rock could perhaps be moved just a smidgen back but aside from that your placement is impeccable!

Alright guys, I messed with the substrate a little bit, and moved that rock over just a tad. Not sure if you'll be able to tell but here's an updated couple of pics.

PLANTING DAY 1

So I decided to rig up the clear tubing to work without the lily pipes for now. I used a filter pad from my 5 gallon fluval chi to seed the new filter for this tank. I will be testing and doing water changes accordingly.

Went to the LFS and picked up 3 healthy pots of HC, 10 neons, 4 RCS, gh/kh test kit, and some planting tongs. The last couple days have been fun getting it all set up. :)

That looks great!!! I can't wait until it fills out. It's going to be awesome. :)

Pretty neat! You're quite the resourceful DIY guy with fixing the fixture and now rigging the tubing to work with the Fluval hardware... good stuff man! Hope your new fauna can handle a not so fully cycled tank. I know the seeding helps but you'll have to be diligent with partial water changes.

I was thinking the same thing about the semi-cycle. Especially with those Neons, can be a bit testy at times :)

Thanks Brian! i am a pretty handy guy! haha Yeah, honestly, I don't even know why I bought the fish. Guess I just got excited... :eyes: I also threw some otos in there and am regretting it. They flip out at everything so I'm scared they're gonna uproot some of the HC. I guess we'll see how it goes. I've got the co2 pumpin and I dosed micros today. I just want the HC to take root and start taking off!
