Finally got around to picking up the New Life Spectrum food for my goldies with our Petco gift card (the money back for a returned kitty condo) that everyone has recommended; I'm trying the small pellet formula, which looks like tiny distilled coffee beans...there has been good and bad feedback in terms of the fish "taking" to it...
The good news is that my ryukin, suffering from habitual and chronic swim bloat problems, has been doing better, swimming more upright and seemingly coming back to life -- and this is after one or two feedings! Conversely, however, the pellets seem to have made the fish a bit cuckoo, the Red Cap Oranda getting aggressive once again and chasing the other two fancies around the tank. I noticed this since changing their food from the flakes to the New Life Spectrum pellets...
LOL...I'll report back with more findings regarding this phenomenon and how the fish are doing on the new food...
