I have new tanks and big plans, so I figured I would start a build thread of sorts to keep me motivated! Because I also have a whole room that needs some cleaning out to make this happen, and sorting through a "junk room" sucks. I did get a good head start today, and I would share pictures if I wasn't way too embarrassed by the closet that is packed with some of the stuff I had to move out of the way. Cleaning that out is a task for tomorrow. As of now, the room has 3 tanks that are running and 4 that are not. I have my two 10 gallon male betta tanks (one divided and one not), a 10 gallon spawning tank, an empty 10, two 20 longs on a stand (thanks again, cbourg746), and a 40 breeder on the floor. The 20s I plan to work on tomorrow and the 40 and the empty 10 need stands. I might see if I can fit the empty 10 under the table that is a stand for one 10, but I doubt I would have enough overhead clearance to do maintenance. I think I will replace one of my other makeshift stands for the other 2 10 gallons with a double stand if I can find one at the right price. If I can find a couple of them, even better! I am running out of wall space for tanks, lol. Oh, and the best part of the room to me is that in the center of the big bay window that takes up one wall, I have a nice big armchair where I can sit and see all the tanks!

So my projects for today were to clear the floor and move the 20s where I wanted them, and to clean out my empty 10 that had been soaking in vinegar for a week. All that got done, and I also cut and rinsed the plastic bottles I use for jarring betta fry. I had done as many as I needed before, but I figured why not get all of them that I had rinsed and prepped at once. I use empty 2 liter soda bottles and 1.75 liter plastic liquor bottles, which work great. Tomorrow I hope to get backgrounds painted on some of the tanks and maybe get some sand and water in one 20. I will also be prepping the 10 for temp use as a qt tank in the morning, as I am getting some fish in the mail. Just need to throw water in and add the seeded sponge filter. Heaters are sadly unnecessary for me at the moment... My ac isn't working properly and inside temps sit around 80-85.

So follow along and see how my little fish room progresses!

I'm following along as well I have a dream of owning my own fish store already have somebody I've been talking to about it and owning enough land to have a shop that would be my fish room/ man cave with my dream tank in the middle

A fish room??? A whole room dedicated to fish??? Fish only??? A mancave??? A fishcave??? You have so many things i will probably never have!!!

Yup. A room pretty much dedicated to my fish, mainly my betta breeding project. I'm a girl, but yeah, it's pretty much my mancave. Hehe... I have a man cave and my boyfriend doesn't. Which is why HE gets to clean out our other spare room. Too bad I already claimed the bigger one!

Just got a nice shipment of fish in this morning, so I'm off to start acclimating them into the qt! Pictures will come soon!

Anyone else feel particularly scatterbrained when getting a shipment of fish in? I think I lost my scissors five times. Still adding water to the containers I poured the fish into. I was going to do a drip, but I realized I am out of suction cups for airlines so unless I wanted to stand there holding the lines that wasn't going to happen!

Not yet lol I haven't ordered any shipments of fish yet so I don't know the feeling lol but some day soon I will

Two juvie calico bn plecos, a clutch of spixi snail eggs, an imported white masked mustard gas hm betta female, and a purple hm betta female. And three surprise convict fry! Plus cultures of banana, micro, and walter worms. Everybody is acclimating and when I get home from running errands later I will get the cultures set up. I need more tupperware for them.

Very nice I would be scatterbrained with that assortment of goods you got in lol

It didn't help that I went to bed super late last night, and then set an alarm to go off every 15 minutes after about 9am to wake me up to go check the door for the package. It finally arrived around 11.

Wow, there is nothing like a bare bottomed tank to remind you exactly how much plecos can poop. The 20 gallon QT is bare, and from the two one-inch long bristlenose juvies, in two days I have siphoned up probably twice their body weight in poop. They have also entirely cleaned the terra cotta pots I pulled from my betta spawning tank for them to hide in, which were coated in algae. They look brand new now. Also, got all the fry from said spawning tank jarred so I can clean it out and start a new spawn in the next few days. Yay!

Very nice any pics coming soon

Lol, I forgot again! Tomorrow during daylight I will catch some. Most tanks in there don't have lights. Also if all goes as it should there will be pics of newborn kittens. Mamma has started lactating so kittens should arrive in the next day or so! Then we can finally get her fixed! This is a stray who adopted us - she just walked in one day, then a couple weeks later brought us roughly 5 week old kittens and was pregnant again soon after that.

Glad cbourg found a good home for the 20g's he offered them to me a while back but IL to LA is a bit too far...LOL Cant wait to see the pic's.

Yeah, that would have been a bit far. Tomorrow I plan to get pics of the new arrivals at least, and hopefully some of the whole room as it is now. Might need to set up a curtain to hide the scary mess that is the closet in there, lol. It is kind of stacked high with boxes at the moment. I will also try and get shots of the sweet driftwood that is sort of soaking in my 40.

I guess I'm lucky I don't have access to entire new shipments of bettas, especially now that places like petsmart and petco are stocking the fancier varieties. I would bring half of them home with me! My last trip to petco was a strict tanks only mission, yet I came home with a sweet double tail male. Oops... Counting my 7 jarred fry, I have around 20 bettas, mostly female. Soon to be more as I plan on getting a pair in the spawning tank sometime this week!

Haha! That happens to me all the time. Me: goes to store to buy new air pump, comes back with breeding pair of angelfish, a breeding pair of convicts, and 5 female guppies. A successful day! Lol

20 Betta's! Wow! You are inspiring me to get a 5 gallon tank & get me a Betta fish. :).

That's awesome. Can't wait to see some pics of the room, the kittens, & the Betta's! Haaha.

I adopted my cat as well, from petsmart actually :) then I had another one I adopted from a shelter as well. I like cats. Haha.

Still no kittens, lol. I've just been nagging her since I got home. "So, gonna pop out some kittens now? No? How about now?" I like cats too. Funny thing has been watching the boyfriend grow attached - he is a dog person. And now he wants to keep two kittens and the mom.

I'm charging my camera and then there will be fishy pics! And do it! Bettas are awesome little fish - lots of personality like oscars, but packed into 3 inches that don't need huge tanks and don't poop like small dogs. That said, I've wanted oscars forever, but I've never had the tank space. My mom used to keep them and I grew up with stories about them being really personable fish. Oh, fair warning though - bettas are addictive. You get one, then you see another really nice one and before you know it there is a small betta tank on every flat surface of your home!
