I have new tanks and big plans, so I figured I would start a build thread of sorts to keep me motivated! Because I also have a whole room that needs some cleaning out to make this happen, and sorting through a "junk room" sucks. I did get a good head start today, and I would share pictures if I wasn't way too embarrassed by the closet that is packed with some of the stuff I had to move out of the way. Cleaning that out is a task for tomorrow. As of now, the room has 3 tanks that are running and 4 that are not. I have my two 10 gallon male betta tanks (one divided and one not), a 10 gallon spawning tank, an empty 10, two 20 longs on a stand (thanks again, cbourg746), and a 40 breeder on the floor. The 20s I plan to work on tomorrow and the 40 and the empty 10 need stands. I might see if I can fit the empty 10 under the table that is a stand for one 10, but I doubt I would have enough overhead clearance to do maintenance. I think I will replace one of my other makeshift stands for the other 2 10 gallons with a double stand if I can find one at the right price. If I can find a couple of them, even better! I am running out of wall space for tanks, lol. Oh, and the best part of the room to me is that in the center of the big bay window that takes up one wall, I have a nice big armchair where I can sit and see all the tanks!
So my projects for today were to clear the floor and move the 20s where I wanted them, and to clean out my empty 10 that had been soaking in vinegar for a week. All that got done, and I also cut and rinsed the plastic bottles I use for jarring betta fry. I had done as many as I needed before, but I figured why not get all of them that I had rinsed and prepped at once. I use empty 2 liter soda bottles and 1.75 liter plastic liquor bottles, which work great. Tomorrow I hope to get backgrounds painted on some of the tanks and maybe get some sand and water in one 20. I will also be prepping the 10 for temp use as a qt tank in the morning, as I am getting some fish in the mail. Just need to throw water in and add the seeded sponge filter. Heaters are sadly unnecessary for me at the moment... My ac isn't working properly and inside temps sit around 80-85.
So follow along and see how my little fish room progresses!
