My sump is gravity fed right under my tank. We cut off the system for a second to see about something and we noticed that my sump will overflow with water. I have no cutt off for it and was thinking about installing a shutoff valve for it incase the power cuts off. I could turn the valve shut and keep the water from filling up the sump to much.

That would be an option.

Cycle is undergo. Put in a piece of live rock to jump it off! Now we just wait! ?

Would anybody recommend a fuge fir this size tank? I've been debating on buying the smallest one on BRS with the light included.

You can't just grow some chaeto in the sump?

Probably not, because the only spot that has slow enough flow is covered. My sump is only two part chamber. Where the water comes in, and then the water pumps out.

In the middle I have an egg crate shaped racked that holds matrix rock and the top has a pad that filters out large stuff.

Oh true I don't think you need a fuge. It would hang off the tank wouldn't it

I have a big enough sump to where it could hang.

Do you really wanna spend the money for it though?

If it would help my tank significantly

I don't think a small fuge is really that helpful. Save that money for a better skimmer :)

Sounds good to me. I only thought I should use to grow a colony of pods

You'll get plenty growing in the display. A good skimmer is a much better investment

Good! I'll save the money then.

What's going on, brother? So far just waiting on those nitrites to rise on up! It's been probably close to a week.

Have you added an ammonia source besides the rock you put in? If not, this could be the outstanding issue.
Also, in terms of your sump, why are you looking for a pre-made one? Just get a large Rubbermaid container to be one. As long as it is made from plastic that is safe to drink from it is good to go. My next sump will be a horse trough. It doesn't have to be pretty and cost extra, it just has to work.
