Hey I've had my 10 gallon tank set up for about 5 months and it's really cloudy. I have 2 filters on it a aquaclear 50 and a aquatech 5-15 and both are running a fine polishing pad. So why is the water so cloudy?
Idk. It's a guessing game if you don't provide info such as:
Current stock
% and frequency of water changes
How are and how often the filters are cleaned
Gravel vacuuming
Frequency, amount, and type of food given
Any additives to the water (ferts, clarifiers, etc)
Substrate
Live/plastic plants
It's is over stocked I have 4 comet gold fish in it and once the group a bit bigger the will be moved to a pond. I do 30-45% water changes once a week and replace the fine polishing pad every week. The filters are cleaned once a month.
Sand will settle in a day or two. This is a reoccurring cloudiness.
Best guesses:
1. Bacterial bloom
2. Diatom bloom
3. Just cycling
Option #3 is what I really believe it is. The other two are noticeably different. Most tanks will cloud up some during initial setup and cycling processes.
And this is an out door tank. The sand is quikrite play sand that I washed. It didn't cloud the water when I added it but now the waters all hazy and dust looking.
