After going over all the species described so far, I think what I am going for is a school of zebra danios, a school of otos, and some sort of larger "centerpiece" fish that is peaceful and preferably doesn't need a school of its own species.

Maybe an angel. They like the high aspect of the 20gl.

How about a german ram or a honey gourami?
I disagree about the angel, they would need a bigger tank than a 20 high.
Rams are cool too. Gouramis arent my thing, but sure can be pretty. Was just givin options when i threw out the angel.

Sand is better though.

I recently came across spotted blue eyes, and I love them! Would a school of those be suitable?

Very! I was going to have 6 of them in a 10 long, you could probably get 8. (Not more because of the small footprint) Have you thought about candycane tetras? Or Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis?

Is rosewood aquarium safe? There is a perfect piece of wood in our backyard that broke off of a rose bush/tree. It is the right size and shape, and doesn't seem to be decomposing at all.

Oops, it was incorrectly identified. It's from a rhododendron.

A single Bolivian Ram might work as a good centerpiece fish. They're much hardier than GBRs and do well long-term below 80 F.

A full-grown Angel would need a minimum of a 29 gallon.

A full grown angel would need more than that. A 40 gal. high at least.

I think I have decided on what to keep:
• 10 zebra danios
• 6 otos
• 6 spotted blue eyes

Aqadvisor says that it is slightly above maximum stocking level, but there is definitely enough filtration and I do plenty of PWCs. Should it be alright?
