Actually it's very difficult to detect sarcasm without hearing someone's tone of voice. Likewise, it's very easy to assume/accuse that someone is using sarcasm. Typically the post in question is not using sarcasm, it's just misunderstood. It's usually best to give someone the benefit of the doubt.

On at least one other forum I participate in we put sarcastic comments in green. It helps for people that might not be familiar with the temperament of a given poster.
