i should have included that the one bala acts a bit nervous, but all have the same healthy appetite as always , and dont really seem affected ,,or lerthargic.. at least not yet ,

the pet store thought septicemea, possibly. there is no discoloration in the fins however,, just in the areas(nickle sized spots) with the loose scales..

but was unsure the meds really did anything.... as he waqs appearing better before the treatment anyway..

Thanks for the reply ! yes it looks like blood under the skin - just in the same area as the loose protuding scales i treated the tank a bit ago with *maracyn-two* (during the first balas problem)

My boy has raised them from the eggs.. by a brand name "aquasaurs" many stoeres around here sell the "kits" they hatch in a few days , are simple to set up, feed and care for , normally come with a lil "betta like" liter tank? probably raising sea monkeys or aquasaurs has generated interest...

Thanks! The one guy has always been much mellower .. the spastic one still ccassionally flips out , and then plays dead.. but not nearly as often..as before. seems to be setlling down .. after his one 4 hour spell of playing dead i have only seen him do it mayb e twice since and only 5...
