Strange Problem.....New fish always die but inverts do fine.

They look good. I'm picky when I choose my fish. I did however just check voltage in my tank.......52 volts. I guess I figured it out. Heater is 22v, Filter is 10v and Powerheads are 29v (3 powerheads) Ughhh

Strange Problem.....New fish always die but inverts do fine.

Ammonia, Nitrates and Nitrites are at 0. pH is at 8.4 and sg is at 1.022-1.023. Water changes every week. Have my own RO/DI unit and TDS is at 0. Everything is drip acclimated (3-4 drops per second) and have bought fish from separate stores. I've tried 3 fish. Yellow tail damsel, Purple...

Strange Problem.....New fish always die but inverts do fine.

Hi all, Wondering if I can get some guidance. For some reason I can seem to keep fish alive in my tank no matter what, yet inverts like featherdusters, blue leg crabs, astrea snails, copepods and amphipods all do good. Tank was cycled and has been up for a couple months. I thought perhaps...

    Cycle done after a week?

I know it doesn't make sense, but my ammonia is at 0.25 and i'm not showing nitrites yet. Tank is 80Gal. Here is what I've done: Dec 21--cleaned tank with 50/50 RO water/vinegar mix. Rinsed base rock in de-chlorinated tap water and then in RO water Dec 22-- Filled tank with RO and running...

starting up again. Best way to clean tank, rock and sand after storage

I'll use the 50/50 mix of water and vinegar to clean the tank. Will the sand be safe to use if its been sitting "wet" from the last 6 months? I kept about 1" of water over it. It was only used in the tank for about 4 months before we ended up selling our house and moving. Thanks.

Whats the best way to prep a tank, rock and sand after storage? Just rinse with RO and away we go? TIA

    Tank not cycling?

My tank is an 80 Gallon. I'm using RO/DI water and everything was at 0 TDS when I mixed the salt in the tank. With that being said, I still add Seachem Prime to my water because you never know when the carbon might run out. No I dont have a chlorine tester. I agree that something killed the good...

    Tank not cycling?

No fish in there. The clown was supposed to be my first. Just the polyps and feather dusters now. Nothing else. Not running carbon or skimmer at any point either an pH at 8.3

    Tank not cycling?

Could it be that mt cycle came and went and now without any ammonia source died out and I have to start again?

    Tank not cycling?

About a month ago I started my tank up and added some cured rock from my other tank and 2 dead shrimp for the ammonia. About a week later my ammonia went up to .5-1.0 and since then (3 weeks ago) nothing! No Nitrites or Nitrates. Some polyps on the LR and featherdusters (tiny red ones) seem to...

TDS at 16ppm. Is that ok?

Wondering if a TDS reading of 16-18ppm is alright. My tap water is absolutely horrid at 560-580ppm. I just checked my TDS after the membrane but BEFORE the DI. Getting a reading of 36ppm. That works out to a 94-95% rejection considering feed water is going in at 560-580 Now looking at my DI...
