YES!!! Female Bettas can be very aggressive. My one and only Female killed three other females and then ripped the male up.(he later died.) She is now an only betta child and is very happy. Her name is Miss Sassy. I have ben told the trick is to buy female bettas that have been raised together.
Marbles are reccomended in breeding tanks of eggscatters such as Danios. The eggs fall between the marbles and mommy and daddy fish can't eat them. :wink:
Good article on them in Aquarium fish Magazine this month. they discuss tiger Barbs (puntius tetrazona), rosy barbs (puntius conchonius) and cherry barbs (Puntius titteya)I have cherry barbs but may have to get some rosy barbs after reading the article :D
Basically yes, and the Brazil Swords they have for sale are also non-aquatic also. been there done that bought both and found out they were both non-aquatic afterwards :roll:

She's been in the tank with a male for a year. hmm, have they ever spawned? Mine looked exactly like you described yours "like she had swallowed a marble"
and she was full of eggs. just another take on the situation :)
