    Lighting advice please

I've been doing a lot of research on plants and lighting, but I'm still very confused about a couple things, so please help. I have a 75 gal freshwater tank which I'm restarting after my columnaris disaster (lost all 14 fish over 4 days, it was devastating). Anyway, I had fake plants before...

Total Meltdown in 75 gal tank

I really appreciate everyone's advice. I would rather use the vinegar method to clean everything, especially the tank. Should I use it undiluted? Should it be heated or room temp? The reason I ask that is I've read where heated vinegar is good at cleaning soap scum and mineral deposits, so I was...

Total Meltdown in 75 gal tank

Thanks for the advice, jsoong. Yeah, I figured I'd probably need gallons of bleach to add to the tank, so that's not really a good option. I just dread having to clean such a big, heavy tank. What a chore that's going to be! Oh well, it's got to be done. Thanks again.

And thank you, too, catmel. Yes, the people on this forum are great. I shouldn't have stayed away so long.

Total Meltdown in 75 gal tank

Hi Vinny, Well, the reason I think it was a disease is that all the fish developed white stringy material on their bodies, their fins started to fray, and their eyes clouded over. And the quick rate of death, one right after another. I hadn't done any water tests in a while, I'm ashamed to...

Total Meltdown in 75 gal tank

Hi, It's been several years since I've been on the forums. My tanks were going along fine, until this past Wednesday, when my fish started dying one by one in my 75 gallon. As of last night, 14 fish have died and the tank is now empty. I'm stunned and extremely sad and upset about this. It was...

    How could this happen?

Thanks everybody. Frog girl, they are Australian rainbowfish. I'm just surprised at how long the eggs must have been in the tank before they hatched. Like I said, the rainbowfish were moved out of the QT tank at the end of September and the fry didn't show up until the end of January.

    I'll be away

Meghan, I'm very sorry for your loss. I haven't been on the forum in a long time, so I just read this. God speed. Hope Trevor gets into his PhD program.

    How could this happen?

What I thought were clown loach fry in my QT now look very much like rainbowfish. I moved the 7 rainbowfish out of QT into the 75 gal at the end of September. I first noticed the tiny fry when I moved the clown loaches out of QT into the 75 gal at the end of January. Do eggs take that long to...

What does your cat do with it's leisure time?

When is a cat's time not leisure time? I have one cat that loves to watch the fish. She'll get up on the stand next to the QT when I have fish in there, or she'll stand up on her hind legs and put her front paws on the tank. She especially notices when my frog Franklin is doing his...
