Thanks everybody. Frog girl, they are Australian rainbowfish. I'm just surprised at how long the eggs must have been in the tank before they hatched. Like I said, the rainbowfish were moved out of the QT tank at the end of September and the fry didn't show up until the end of January.

Are you sure the filter died? Check for gunk built up around the impeller and motor housing. Sometimes if you just clean that out, it starts up again.

That is heartbreaking. All those poor animals, how horrible.

Since there are no fish in there, try keeping the light off and covering the tank for a few days so absolutely no light gets in there. You might want to put some carbon in the filter, too. I had green water in my QT tank once, and that did the trick.
