So far during my time in this hobby I've only used a marineland HOB filter. I currently have a 27 gallon tall cubed aquarium. I've noticed with black friday coming fast that some places are running canister filters for 50% off and i need some opinions. Should i even consider a canister on a...
The measurements are 20x18x20, I thought with it being tall 1 angel would be ok, i would definitely not do more than 1, now that i've posted the measurements what do you guys think? Would it be too tight for an angel?

Anyone know if a gold ram and an angel fish can coexist together? Currently have a ram and would like to add an angel, if not i may just try to find him a girlfriend

That makes sense i appreciate it, so right now my ammonia is at 0 ppm and my nitrites are way up so what's my next move? Should i just keep dosing my ammonia to about 1.0 ppm?
I was having a problem with nitrites spiking and discovered that i have nitrites in my tap water. Tested with the api test kit and it's showing i have 1.0 ppm in my tap water. I'm imagining this is going to give me problems when i do water changes obviously. What's my solutions here?
Holy Cow, this problem has been bothering me all day so i came home from work early and did a 50% water change, then i tested the tap water and it's showing i have nitrites in my tap water........what the heck do i do about that?
Sorry yes a fishless cycle. I have been turning 4.0 ppm of ammonia in a 24 hour period for almost a week now. I was getting 0 ppm readings for the ammonia and nitrites using the api test kit, and for some odd reason my nitrites spiked up
Ok my tank cycled and thought i was ready to go to stock the tank. I did a 90% water change and turned my heater back down. I tested the water this morning just to make sure i was good to go and it appears my nitrites are off the charts, my ammo is 0ppm my ph is 7.8. Anyone have any ideas about...
Ok just checked the ph started high around 7.8 from the water supply, now it's 6.4 which is a good drop, last week it was 7.8. I have done no water changes and have not removed or added anything to the tank since starting.
My nitrites were off the charts but haved dropped
Sorry should have explained better, an example my ammonia would show a 1.0 ppm at 5 minutes but around 10 minutes it would show .50ppm, same for the nitrites, but my nitrates would go up in value and it is a fishless cycle
