thats a male cacatuodes .. if you are going to breed, consider getting a 10gal. You can set up a pair in there and then have the fry grow and move them when they are ready..

If your tank is an adequate size, yes. I've done it before, a few times.. and what I would suggest to you, is to rearrange your decor and add a few small terra cotta pots in your tank. This will allow the fish to setup new territories , hiding spots and your fish should get along fine. hth.

well patience finally payed off and my pair of triple full red dwarf cichlids(apistogramma cacatuoides) have eggs in one of the terra cotta pots. Can't wait to see them hatch.. some things I'll be pickin up at the store tomorrow: sponge for filter intake, and some java moss . I got hikari...

So I need to move the 37 gal (30"L 12"D) and I figure it's time to switch to sand substrate..this sand: http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=20545;category_id=2409 here's the question.. I've never used sand before, soo is 20lbs enuf to cover the 37Gal , say 3-4 inches...
