Well, thanks for the help guys, but all my little gups are dead. The only thing left alive are the nerite snails and they seem happy as a clam. I think I'm going to fix that algae problem and try adding some plants then get a different livestock. Thinking maybe rasboras. Again thanks for your help!
So recently my fish have been dying off and tonight I found this on my intake sponge.
If anyone knows what it is and how to gut it off of this it would be much appreciated!
If you find a strain you like, buy a trio or two and breed those in its own tank without any other fish or different strains. Then as the fry come out, any that grow up without the traits you want, sell/humanly kill them. Remove them from the gene pool as fast as possible.

Yes this happened to my tank. It was 2 weeks old and I took out the items and scrubbed them free from the stuff. I did a PWC and in about two weeks it was completely gone. I had the stuff all over the fake plants and gravel. I have not encountered any since.

So recently my old gravel vac came apart and I was wondering what could fix it. I know silicone would fix it but I don't want to have to put it back together. Does anyone know if duct tape would be ok? At most it will spend 1 1/2 minutes under water.
I would suggest starting with six. 3-3 each sex. They will reproduce and regulate the population. For plants use dwarf hair grass or something similar for fry and shrimp to live in. As long as you keep the water clean you could have up to 20 at a time.
