    Need help controlling ph.

Hi James, after years of messing around with the ph for my Discus I know how you feel. (frustrated!) Co2 has a habit of lowering the ph in any tank. I would stop using the R/o unit as you are stripping the water of all the natural elements, (buffers etc) and just use regular water from the tap...

Fry / Releasing them into general population.

Your Platy fry should be fine as long as they have a place to retreat to (plants, rocks etc.)

    in_breeding fish good or evil????

Inbreeding is fine if you are trying to fix a particular trait such as red eyes in Discus. The problems that can arise are deformaties that need to be culled.

    Just finished my new pond

Reefrunner is right!. Believe me, if I could keep my pond heated all winter I would. The benefits of being able to feed my Koi all winter would be fantastic.....they would be huge! :eek2:

The de-icer only keeps a hole open in the ice to allow gasses to escape from the stuff decomposing on the bottom of your pond. It does'nt keep the water from freezing...

Need you pond guys' suggestions for what I should do

Corvuscorax is right, your pond needs to be a minimum of 36 inches deep to overwinter any fish and a small deicer or aquarium heater ( I used a Ebo Jager) 8O to keep a small hole open for gasses to escape. :eyes:

    Hey.......pond kepers!!!

It's a bad time right now unless you are lucky enough to live in the south. The pond is still bare and only a few things are starting to sprout.

    Pond Help

Hi Dan, first of all I would clean out those leaves and gunk from the bottom of your pond. Anything that is left in the pond will decompose, adding to your algea problem :( . Second, I would add some barley straw maybe in a stocking or something that would allow the water to flow through it. The...
