Two completely different sets of water parameters that aren't compatibile. Plus, water parameters aside, depending on which New World cichlids you choose, some get quite a bit bigger and are more aggressive/territorial
I have yet to and for the most part it's stayed intact with weekly cleaning in tank water. There might be a small amount of breakdown, but it hasn't looked too bad.
Mine is similar. Two AC50 on my 20g L. I've has two sponges and one ceramic bag. Other has one sponge and two ceramic. Haven't bothered with chemical as water is pretty clear as is
If you transfer over all of the old media, I would imagine your fish will be fine because you haven't lost any bacteria.
Another suggestion: it couldn't hurt to run a cycle of bacteria once the canister is set up. I use Seachem Stability but there are others out there
Yeah. I use 2 FX6 canisters for my 150g and 2 AC50 on my 20g L.
The most noticeable difference between the two is it definitely takes more time to maintain a canister. It's not really harder once you become familiar with it, there's just more parts to remove/clean.
As Freakgecko points out, their name gives insight into their personality. These fish are frequently in the Top 3 in terms of aggression, predatory and territorial behavior. They also grow quite large with males reaching up to 20".
