    How to move an aquarium?

I am looking for some advice on how to go about moving a 55 gallon saltwater aquarium. I have about 75lbs of live rock, a few corals, and 5 fish. I will be moving in next winter, and want to start planning how to go about this, so any advice would be appreciated.

formula one & formula two pellets for crabs and shrimp

my fire shrimp would eat both formula 1 and 2 pellets, and frozen food for that matter, I don't think he really cared as long as it was food...:-). I never directly tried to feed him, he would just get what ever the fish missed, until he went MIA anyways :-(.

    Hang on refuge?

It makes as much noise as a powerhead does. I use a maxijet 600 on mine, so it is as quiet as a maxijet 600 is. which is very quiet i think. It comes packaged with a rio powerhead, Not sure if it is common for rio's or not, but mine was loud, making a constant annoying clicking noise, I tired...

    Hang on refuge?

I have the CPR 18'' HOB refugium model on my 55 gallon. I have about 1 1/2 inches of sand, some pieces live rock rubble, and some chaeto macroalge in there. The chaeto has grown alot. As far as nitrates go, before I had the refugium, my nitrates were around 20, now they are 5 to 10. I never...

    Mystery Starfish

I have loaned out my camera to someone, so i wasn't able to snap a picture. And the odds of ever seeing this thing again soon are very slim, considering it took 7 months to see him the first time. I can say its not a brittle star. I did some research and could not find a picture anywhere...

    Mystery Starfish

I have had my tank setup for about 7 months now. 55 gallon with about 60 lbs of live rock. I have not added anything new to the tanke for 2 months now. After the lights went out on the aquarium last night for a little while, i decided to take a look at the aquarium night life. I see this...

    nitrate levels

I have read 40 to 50 is the time to really get worried. When mine hit 20, I started to do more frequent water changes, and added a refugium with Macro in it. Now my nitrate is not exactly 0, but somewhere between 0 and 10.

You also may want to consider adding a refugium, with some macro algae. Done alot to improve the overall quality of my aquarium.

How to do a water change?

What is the correct way to do a water change, in respect to vacumming the substarte? (not sure if vacumming in this right term, but i hope you know what i mean) The guy at the local LFS told me I should be "vacumming" the entire substrate as I siphon water out. I have not being doing this...
