Thanks so much for the extensive information - I feel so much better and by the looks of things, my fish do too ;) I did a water change today and my fish seem to be a lot happier - more energetic, etc. So hopefully things go well from here. Thanks again!

My female swordtip is acting seriously out of character. Since I've had her she normally swims around and is quite energetic. But for the last 2 days she's just been staying on the bottom of the tank, not swimming and she didn't eat this morning.

My siamese fighter has developed white spots on its face. What could that be? Also, none of the other fish have it. (My tank is almost 2 weeks old and due for its first clean on Monday.)

in the last week I've lost 6 litres of water (about 2 gallons) is that a normal amount? If not, what do I do? Also, is it necessary to top up the water everyday to counteract the evaporation, or every week maybe? My tank is only on 26C (about 78F) so its not like its too warm

can you get one of those things to test ammonia levels, etc from a pet shop? Or do I have to get it from a pool shop/hardware?

would it be safe to clean the filter and glass every week and then do a water replacement every 3 weeks - a month?
