Sea Urchins have begun populating tank

Whats up everybody! So I took a long weekend trip to San Diego and so my weekly 5g water change didn't get done in my 55 gallon reef tank. I was going to do it when low and behold, I find several purple sea urchins have made homes in my new tank. They are really cool-looking and move so fast...

    Best lighting for Calerpa algae?

What is the best lighting spectrum for calerpa algae (actually the girl at the store called it Califera) but anyways should I go with a 10,000K white or an actinic blue bulb? Any advice would be great. Thanks! :) Jimmy

Pacific Blue Tang (Dory from Finding Nemo)

I dont think my 6g is overcrowded. The fish dont seem to be getting any bigger but they seem to be perfectly happy. They swim like healthy fish and have hearty appetites. JW

Pacific Blue Tang (Dory from Finding Nemo)

    tangs

What about a 55 gallon (4 foot long) tank for a Pacific Blue Tang? THey said at the LFS that a 70 gallon was the minimum size for that fish? Is this true because I really want one. Jimmy

    My first web site

Well, the biggest obstacle in converting the Eclipse was lighting. I don't believe that you can find a retro-fit kit that will fit the Eclipse Six. What I did was to buy a standard (as in the type that a normal 60W bulb fits in) double-fixture and I used two-part epoxy to glue it into the...

    Phosphate Remover Products ?

Do phosphate remover products actually work? What are some good brands to try? I have a refugium with some Calerpa algae in it but I am still getting algae inside the tank. :( JW

    Bio-Wheels & Nitrates

I removed the bio-wheel on my Eclipse Six gallon nano-reef and just use LR and LS and the tank has never given me a minute of trouble. Jimmy

Photo of my Nano....Any visual suggestions!?

Hey, nice setup! Is that an Eclipse Six? I'm running an Eclipse Six nano-reef and it is doing very well. I do one gallon water changes with store-bought water once a week and that is about it. I have never had a single problem with it. A couple things I did was to take the bio-wheel out and...

    Additives mixed with kalkwasser?

Well if all those minerals are naturally present then why not add them. The protein skimmer removes them so I add them once a week on Wednesday and I do a 10% water change on Saturdays. JW
