Unfortunately, I don't have a sump at this time, but looking into getting one custom built. My stand has odd measurements which makes finding a sump very difficult (22" width, 16" depth, 26" high).
Is there any way that I can stop the fish from jumping without adding a lid of any kind? The...
That's a good idea and will look into that...
I'm also having a major issue with evaporation since removing the canopy. Previously, I'd have to top off the tank once a week (I would coordinate this with my weekly water changes) but since removing the canopy I have to top off two to three times...
I've got a 5 month old FOWLR with one colony of Button Polyps (I Plan on adding more corals eventually). I have a light fixture that is on legs that stands 2 inches above the water and had to replace the Canopys that came with the tank due to the amount of light they would block. Right now...
I have no idea if the clams are still alive. How do you tell if a clam is still alive? They've buried themselves in the substrate and I haven't seen them since...
Removing all the decor is going to be a project and a half. I have 2 logs in there that will not come out unless the entire lid...
I do PWC's 2 times a week on a 130 Gallon Aquarium once on Sunday and once on Wed or Thurs. Each PWC is 20 gallons each time (four 5 gallon buckets) so that's a total of approx 40 Gallons of water a week in PWC's.
Today I did a water test and my Nitrates are up to 80ppm! I don't see how this...
I just picked some up 4 days ago and it's grown about 6 inches since I got it. It must be a weed of some kind, cause at the rate it's growing it'll be out of the tank by tomorrow!
I've done a PWC with it already and have had very few leaves break off. Of course, I don't dump the bucket right...
Oh ya, they are DEFINATELY the same size. Two plants side by side....I have no idea what's under the substrate though, so I'll have to dig em up to find out. They don't appear to be stunting each other....
I use fertilizers. I use Flourish and Flourish Excel. I'm gonna be getting some more...
A timer works great. I picked one up recently and it comes on at 7:30AM and turns off at 7:30PM. Exactly 12 hours. I don't have to worry about being a little over or under any longer, the only rush is to get the fish fed before the lights go off! They're pretty cheap, you can get a digital...
So, I have some Amazon Swords in my tank and I think it's time I need to seperate them. They have both grown into 2 seprate Swords so that would be a total of 4 Swords if I separate the two.
However, I'm a little concerned about separating them as when I look at their roots I can see that they...
I bought 4 Cherry Fire Shrimp, 4 Ninja Shrimp and 4 Tiger shrimp from AZGardens. The shipping came to be $75 USD (And I'm canadian eh!). It might be because it had to come across the border, but the price in shipping was more than the price for the shrimp. You'd be better off trying to find...
I just picked up a bottle of Seachem and Sechem Excel for my plants...I did a PWC then followed the directions and added the correct amounts. The problem is, after I did the additives, I noticed on the Seachem that it contains %0.0001 copper. I've heard that Copper or any other metals are toxic...
That would make sense...the tank was not sold with gravel, but it was assumed (at the time) that was what was being put in the tank. I do have approx 2 inches of gravel across the bottom and a few logs...so I'm probably less than 130 Gallons in Volume.
Thanks for the input docrak!

They're pretty much for show...unless you've duct taped the lid to your tank on... :D
The airpump shouldn't require much power, not compared to other things like your filter or the lights.
