    Food For Bottom Feeders

Do you try to drop them in at night after lights out? That works for my cories and my otherwise pushy, piggy rainbows.

    ideas for low/no tech tank

Thanks, waterpond. Do you keep all of these types, or just the crypts and the ambulia? Do you have upgraded lighting at all? I only have the 2 15 watt bulbs that came with my 55g, and I don't have any plans to upgrade any time soon.

    ideas for low/no tech tank

Hi al...I'm going to be planting my tank for the first time and am looking for ideas from some of you who are using just the standard lights that came with your tank (no upgrades), no CO2, no ferts, etc. Just basic, easy stuff. I realize I can only probably keep java moss, some anubias &...

    lighting problem

Yesterday when I turned on the lights in my tank one of them was very weak, almost not on at all. I figured since they are a year old it was time to replace them. So I bought some new ones today, but when I turned them on, I have the same problem. Does this sound like the ballast has gone...

    Question about driftwod

Squeekness, the reptile wood is most likely grapewood. I bought a piece of it, thinking I could substitute it for the Malaysian driftwood which is more expensive. It never did sink, and after a while, a white fungus started growing on it. I've heard other people say this happened to them too...

I never thought about it before I bought one, but now he's here and the sand is clumping onto all his sticky bits. looks painful. Is it harmful?

Can't believe the fish bag used in lfs and used for so long!

I had that happen when I bought some tiny little cories. The girl set the bag down and one of their tails got caught in the corner. He wiggled free, but his WHOLE tail came off! Right up to the peduncle! It eventually grew back, but is now misshapen. It's the only way I can tell him apart...

    need some opinions, please...

Thanks! And did you get the standard blue that they sell at places like Petsmart, etc? Like what they have as the background in their own tanks?

    need some opinions, please...

I'm changing the tank background to a solid color, but cant decide between blue or black. I have a 10g with a betta (black with red and dark blue fins) and some neons. I don't want the neons colors to be washed out by the blue background, but don't want to lose the betta against the black...

How long do black skirt tetras live?

Okay this is a freaky, sad coincidence! I asked this question yesterday because I was watching my biggest one and he seemed to be moving a little slower than the rest. This morning I woke up and he was dead. I'm so bummed! I've gotten quite attached to these guys in the last year. I guess...

How long do black skirt tetras live?

I have had my black skirts for a year now, and they were already 4 yrs old when my coworker gave them to (forced them upon) me. Is this unusual? How long do these guys live, anyway??

do mystery or apple snails eat algae?

I need something to eat algae in my 10g betta tank, but I don't seem to have luck with ottos. Will snails do this?
