The large amount of plants probably helps greatly. Most gouramis I see try to eat Neons but it would depend on the gourami.

Neons are also very fast and on top of that- brightly colored which isn't helping your gourami friend out at all. Gouramis (like Bettas) don't take kindly to bright colors because bright colors equals competition for mates. Plus, he's still recovering from those three Dinos (or are they...
Did you check the water to make sure it's safe for him? Does he show any other signs of being sick?

Thank you, both of you. Good thing I have a spare 1 gallon to keep my betta while I vacuum the gravel thoroughly. This might end up being a 90% water change but at least it'll clear out any nitrate and fungi!

I don't think it would be any more than an hour but when I kept platys I had all males to avoid having fry. But anything more than an hour I'd worry something was wrong (feel free for any breeders to correct me- I may be wrong).
