    Dark spots on multifasciatus?

We've had a trio of multifasciatus for the past two or three weeks and they've all been settling in well. They've plenty of shells to choose from and have started digging around and claiming territories. However, I've noticed that there is some discolouration and that one in particular has...

    Fluval Edge 46L stocking ideas

Stocking ideas needed! I've got a Fluval Edge 46 litre tank that's currently being used as a grow out for some juvenile mollies and a temporary home for 1 cardinal tetra and 1 otocinclus. However, they'll soon be moved to their permanent homes, giving me an empty tank to play with. I'm...

    High nitrites in cycle

Mollies went out morning after they went in. Tank kick started cycle with established media. I've still got 1ppm ammonia but nitrites have disappeared overnight

    High nitrites in cycle

Another update: ammonia around 1ppm but nitrites have dropped to 0. Any ideas??

    High nitrites in cycle

Scratch the ammonia reading. Thought I'd do another test and it's at 0.5ppm

    High nitrites in cycle

I've been keeping fish for coming up to a year but I've never had to run a cycle as my first tank was second hand and already matured. However, I recently bought my second tank (Fluval Edge 46l) and thought I'd chuck the bio media in the rear sump of my main tank (AquaNano 40). For more...

How long to seed new media?

I've recently bought a new Fluval Edge (46 litre) and am keen to get it up and going. Rather than transferring some old media, I decided to seed it by placing the new bio media into the rear sump of my established tank (Aquanano 40) and on top of the existing bio rings. How long would it...

    Dark Mark on/in guppy tail

Water chemistry is all fine - only concern would be nitrates of 40-60 as that's the content of our tap water. All other fish completely fine. I'll also note that light doesn't shine through this mark and it stays as a shadow.

    Dark Mark on/in guppy tail

A few months ago we noticed a small dark mark in our male guppy's tail. We kept a close eye on it and since then it's grow a bit as shown in the photos. Has anyone got any idea what this could be? I've seen a similar post about this elsewhere but there was no conclusion. The fish seems to be...

    Getting a betta

Tetras can be nippy. I don't have experience with red eyes but my betta is in with cardinals, five banded barbs, ottos, two mollies and a guppy. There was an initial 'settling in' period where the tetra did nip his fins but they lost interest after a few days. That was 3 months ago and I've...

    Getting a betta

It depends on the personality of the betta as aggression levels can vary. Our betta lives happily in a 15 gallon community tank with no problems. A good way to test aggression is to see how they react to neighbouring bettas in the LFS or test their reaction to their own reflection. Having...

    Suddenly aggressive male molly

Last Sunday we added in a female marble molly to our tank to try and improve the ratio of male to female molly. Previously, we had one male and one female pair that we inherited with the tank. For the first few days, our male couldn't leave the new female alone and was constantly trying to...

    Emaciated molly

New update: I've been rubbing her food in garlic and feeding her separately for the past few days. On Sunday I also introduced another female molly into the tank in case the issue was stress related. This left me with two females and a male which is a more ideal ratio. Today I noticed that...

    Emaciated molly

Thanks for the suggestions. As an update, she's still alive but hasn't got any better. I tried feeding her small pieces of pea and garlic but she ignored them. Will continue to rub her food in garlic daily to see where this takes us. In a week or so I may resort to medication.
