Yeah we use the SW stuff - only time I ever ventured into the SW section :). Iodide is the safe form of iodine. Just don't overdose or drop it directly on the shrimp. And like fish, shrimp are sensitive to very high nitrate levels and appreciate clean water.

Fluff - what's the name of the store you picked these up at? I've been trying to find some females. Do they have any more or did they only get enough for your order? Thanks

I use the Seachem brand. Of the two Kent products, I think you want the iodine one since the only ingredient listed is iodide, while the iodide one lists both iodide and iodine (go figure). The info about the Kent stuff is 2nd hand from other shrimp keepers and I've never looked to verify...

If I were you, I would separate the badis as soon as possible. They do get quite territorial. My 2 scarlet badis divided my 33G long (4ft) up in half and would chase the other out of their respective territories. I've also heard stories of males killing each other during mating season.

Ghost shrimp are just scavengers and won't touch algae, except algae wafers. Amanos and cherry red shrimp (if you can get them) will browse all day for algae and will keep most of your plants, rocks and wood clean. However, they're not very good at cleaning the the glass tank walls and the red...

I was just going to ask the same question. :) My 9 month old is just learning to stand, so I have a few months before he can get in trouble with the fish tank (hopefully). My criteria: 1) solution must be simple and quickly removed so feeding the fish doesn't becoming a 15 minute ordeal...

I would get rid of those mosquito looking bugs right away. They sound like the larve of dragonflies (or was it damselflies) which feed on small fish. I found one of those in my tank recently that was killing off my female endlers. I was blaming my female betta until the endler deaths...
