Oh cool. I guess I posted in the wrong forum. I'll check out the other thread then. Thanks

    Good LFS in the Maryland?

Hi all, I'm going to be traveling to Maryland to visit some family and wanted to check out the LFS in their area so I was wondering what people would recommend. I'm going to be in the Silver Spring / Bethesda area. I heard about the Aquarium Center in Baltimore, but unfortunately I'm only...

    Algae-Eating Shrimp

Yeah we use the SW stuff - only time I ever ventured into the SW section :). Iodide is the safe form of iodine. Just don't overdose or drop it directly on the shrimp. And like fish, shrimp are sensitive to very high nitrate levels and appreciate clean water.

    scarlet badis help

Fluff - what's the name of the store you picked these up at? I've been trying to find some females. Do they have any more or did they only get enough for your order? Thanks

    Algae-Eating Shrimp

I use the Seachem brand. Of the two Kent products, I think you want the iodine one since the only ingredient listed is iodide, while the iodide one lists both iodide and iodine (go figure). The info about the Kent stuff is 2nd hand from other shrimp keepers and I've never looked to verify...

    scarlet badis help

If I were you, I would separate the badis as soon as possible. They do get quite territorial. My 2 scarlet badis divided my 33G long (4ft) up in half and would chase the other out of their respective territories. I've also heard stories of males killing each other during mating season.

Shrimp or snails for algae control?

Ghost shrimp are just scavengers and won't touch algae, except algae wafers. Amanos and cherry red shrimp (if you can get them) will browse all day for algae and will keep most of your plants, rocks and wood clean. However, they're not very good at cleaning the the glass tank walls and the red...

    Algae-Eating Shrimp

Tank 1 is about the same parameters as my 33G and my Amano, cherry reds, ghost and Bamboo shrimp don't have any problems. Just as someone said in a previous post, just add some iodide (about 1 drop per 5-10G). Be careful not to overdose. The iodide (same form of iodine) helps the shrimp...

    scarlet badis help

FYI scarlet badis are now classified as dario dario, and they don't grow much larger than 3/4 inch, not 3 inches- http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.cfm?id=60260 Here's a good link about breeding them and some info about food-http://www.svas.info/Newsletter/badis.html I still...

    Need Blue-eye information

Another good site: http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Pseudomugil.htm I've been trying to get my LFS to bring some in, but no luck. Other than aquabid, any ideas?

    Fish tank locks?

I was just going to ask the same question. :) My 9 month old is just learning to stand, so I have a few months before he can get in trouble with the fish tank (hopefully). My criteria: 1) solution must be simple and quickly removed so feeding the fish doesn't becoming a 15 minute ordeal...

i know im going to get yelled at...

I would get rid of those mosquito looking bugs right away. They sound like the larve of dragonflies (or was it damselflies) which feed on small fish. I found one of those in my tank recently that was killing off my female endlers. I was blaming my female betta until the endler deaths...

    Iodine for Shrimp n Invert

I find it more necessary for ghost shrimp than Amanos or cherry shrimp. I do weekly additions of 1 drop per 10 gallons after a 20% water change. Before I started dosing, the ghost shrimp were turning white and dying like other people have stated above. And don't drop it directly on the shrimp...
