    jfran's Pico Build

What does a rock flower anemone need to survive? Could I put one in my tank? If so, how soon? I seem quite stable for time being

Those are awesome!! Hmmm. They all seem pretty cool and I know I can't do them all (age old problem of aquarists) so which are your favorite?

Would I get a pair or only one? I don't know how big they are.

Ok! Good. So I'm gonna have to kill some to clean the glass?

    jfran's Pico Build

Speaking of dirty tank... Over the last two days this algae or diatoms or something (the brown/green smudge) has appeared in my front glass. Does it signal any imbalance? Solution? Also, the tiny white dots seem to be some sort of copepod. Good? Bad? What's the deal?

    jfran's Pico Build

Hello all, I decided to start a build thread on my new SW pico tank. I have boldly started a pico tank so to be able to take something with me when I depart for college. Allow me to explain everything so far. The tank is an Eclipse System 3. It is an all in one system meaning the filter is...

Something growing on hermit crab shell

Does anybody have any idea what this is? Is it bad? It has moved around on the shell and it wasn't there yesterday.

My newly set up nano reef. It's gonna be a while before any coral is put in.

    New nano reef build help

Couple of miscellaneous questions: Is macro algae compatible with coral? Should I do macro algae instead of coral because they help absorb nitrates? Is it even possible to do macro in a nano like this? Basically, macro or coral or both?

    New nano reef build help

Update: So due to my 18 yr old budget and the desire to have something easily brought along to a college dorm room in a few months, I had to go with the 3 gallon. I know I just heard an audible gasp. Some may say it's not doable. Well I plan to prove y'all wrong. Please bear with me on this...

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

It's teeny weeny-- 3 gallons. Corals and a few inverts is the plan. The freeloading snail is a turbo who will need to be taken back because I think he is too big and clumsy for the nano. I will trade him in for a 20% off coupon. PM me if you have any advice that way we don't clog this thread

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

Today I started a nano reef tank. Just live rock and water right now. Corals and inverts down the road once we make sure cycling is all good. I think my live rock came with a snail on it tho! [emoji16]

    New nano reef build help

So the setup is decided. 10 gallon main with HOB to a 3 gallon sump. For the the photosynthetic corals I'll be getting eventually, what light do I need? In terms of water, how often do I do water changes because I know I would have to buy water because tap is advised against right? Can I use...

So if I go with a HOB that is instead of using the 3 gal for the sump?

    New nano reef build help

I would love to have a reef if possible. But ok: start with fish and live rock. I'm sorry but what exactly is a sump?

    New nano reef build help

So I have never owned a saltwater tank but have always been fascinated. I think I'm ready to try. I have a forty gallon tank but that is my current South American freshwater setup and so I am going to have to go nano for my first saltwater. My size options are a 10 gallon with a horrible light...

    Panda Cory eye protruding

In that order: 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 7.8 pH Less than 5 ppm nitrate 79 F More info: 38 gallon tank 400 gph filtering I haven't had that guy for that long (one week or so) so don't be so hasty to blame my water conditions. I run a tight ship and nobody else has any problems. Is it worth treating?

Help? What's this mean? He's been very inactive too.

    Amazonian themed stock

I take that back. 76 is too low for the rams and the cockatoo (though I'm less worried about him being so old as he is already). I think I will have to keep it high (78-80) and hope the pandas do alright?
  24. jfran

    Amazonian themed stock

Ok that's fine. I'll drop my temp to 76. I've looked it up with the rest of my stock. And 76 isn't too low for anyone

    Amazonian themed stock

The thing is I only have one apisto and he's really really old (on his dying days). So him fighting not a problem. Pandas like cooler water? I thought they were in the 78-80 F range like most other Amazonians. I'll check that out but the ones I have now seem to be thriving. Again the plan is...
