    Moving a Tank

It's really not that hard...after all how do you think lfs's in the midwest (actually any state since over 75% of the fish sold are not from US waters). Your LFS should have a O2 tank that they fill your bag with when you buy fish to take home and they should gladly fill your bags with air for...

    Am I ready for Fish?

Damsels have been known to survive in fresh water for days!! They are very hardy and if you just cant wait for fish adding a few wont hurt..Chances are if they die they would have died anyways even in the most prestine tanks.... By the way doesnt anyone use bacteria in a bottle anymore??

    Instant Ocean Sea Salt problem

doesnt really matter IMO I have mixed sea salts for many years and then used it in the tank.. You do need to mix it fairly well before use or you are likely to get some cloudiness.... I'm not saying that the others are wrong but mixing and adding it will not cause any serious problems, I mean...

hi again all... I have a 245g acrylic tank that I got from my old company. My fish

8O Yeah I will have to agree with the others...those fish are way to big for a 50g tank...when I saw the first angel I was like woaah way to big! can he even swim around??? Also you really should return the sharks...Sharks are very sensitive in captivity to water changes and are hard to keep (...

    Selling off fish?

I would have to say it should depend of the life expectancy in captivity... If you buy a fish that lives 5 years or more and it will outgrow your tank in a year probably a bad choice...Buy a fish with a 1 to 3 yr life and 4 years later its WAY to big then sadly part ways... Doesnt anyone get...

    RO/DI Filter

Find a nice water store in your area..Usually $.25 gal and has been through a 10 to 15 filter process....You will want to add trace elements though as this water is stripped of almost everything....

    How to move a tank

Have you talked to your pest control agent? Some of these applications are airborne for relativly short periods...You may be able to seal the tank in plastic wrap for around 12-18 hours ( or less..and even though that length is still going to be less stressful on livestock than a move!!) with...

    LED tank...would it work?

No reef..... No I am not doing a reef this time (but I think it would work for some of small desktop reefs.) Actually the cost is not that steep...doing it myself and the money saved on electric will more than be beneficial... I dont think the difuser will hurt.. the plan is to have the bulb...

    LED tank...would it work?

Hello all Well I have to admit I am new to the LED moonlighting (wish they were more known when I had my reef!!) and have decided to DIY the project for my 250... I came up with the idea of using the chrome eggcrate light difuser with the LEDS mounted into 1/8 thick sheet of styrofoam laid on...

    Question about cycling process

Thats about the only thing I miss about not being in Anaheim,CA ...There was a internet/LFS supply warehouse (forgot name now darnit!!!) about 20 mins from me that had huge stocks and cheap prices!!... hmmm..well titanium is definitely outta the picture! What is it they use inside reg. chillers? And how long does it take for stainless (or Aluminum for that...

.. Well I guess maybe I will try both....since it's such a big tank and needs several hundred pounds!! I'll go off to the inlet one day and get the live and add it to some from the depot... At least it wont be so much $. I will just have to to some big H2O changes a few times before adding...

    Sand??

But no-one answered.... Good points Lando...but the only advice was one not to use the beach sand (Which I wasnt planning I want to wade out and get from water.) then it went to conversation of buy it at a LFS (Dont want to pay $30 for a 20lb bag of sand) or goto a construction supply store...

    Sand??

Ummm I ask because I can be at the beach in like 40 minutes or so.... There are places like Sebastian Inlet where while filled with people and also smaller boats the water's current is fast so I would think the sand would be safe..many years ago I got some rock from there and it flourished well...

    DIY Chiller idea??'s

Hi again everyone... Well I do have a chiller ready for when I set up my tank soon but it is not really for a 250 more like 175 to 200 I believe.. (however we do keep our house at a comfortable temp year round and have never had a chiller for my previous reefs so I think it's fine for a F/O...

Help! all of my inverts is dying

Definatly get rid of the pennies and start doing water changes... The copper in the tank is killing the inverts.. I've had commercial tanks go through shark losses that were caused by a couple of pennies that ended up in the filtration (We did'nt notice them sooner due to location unfortantly)...
