Okay ... things are moving along well ... my tank seemed to be more stable. Green algee is under control ... now I am getting a red mass that has made an appearance. It is red to burgaandy in apearance. The crabs and snails devour most of it but it is there again by days ens. What kind of algee...

No they are not the same size. One is about 25-33% bigger. It also has that darker coloring coming in while the smaller of the two has just started turning brown about two days ago. The others were about 1/2 of the largest.

Okay so I went with the Clarkii and got a pair. the two largest of the 9 they had at the Petco. It has been about a week and suddenly the larger has roped off a territory and is chasing the other off. How long before a mated pair becomes mated? How long before one becomes female?

I've got a couple of little almost clear dots and the wife was saying that's what the fresh water snails looked like when they spawned.

So what do baby snails look like? My wife thinks I need to pass out cigars.

What in your opinions would be the pluses or minuses between these two fish ... which would you prefer and why? Do you think a Clarki would mess with shrimp or crabs? Thanks!

Just curious ... I was browsing Drs. Foster and Smith. They made a statement about clowns: "If introduced to the aquarium at the same time, many varieties of tank bred clowns can be maintained together in the aquarium." What's your opinion?

I am using R/O water that I use A Filter Guys unit to get. I'm not using Salt Water to top off. Had the wife try and take back the hydrometer back to the pet store where I bought it but they played dumb and she just bought a new one. Compaired the 2. The 2nd one with just tap water reads 1.023...

I did a water change and a couple days later I loss my two clown fish. Checked the PH which had spiked. But ammonia was fine as well as the other peramiters. I took a hydrometer reading and it went off the chart. Went to do another and the hydrometer fell appart. Bought a new one ... it too went...

No Thanks ... It's a dark red ... almost blood red. It has a texture sort of like a bottle brush. Started out like a single stalk but is now like a brush sticking out it's arms. Right now it is maybe a 1/2 inch wide.

Tried that ... Gone to the suggestions listed on the site and guess I just haven't taken enough pictures yet to get the hang of it yet. Whatever it is it is growing but not spreading. Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow.
