    Driftwood....do's and don'ts?

Well Hardwoods are the best for aquariums as they dont leech out toxins. Softwoods(pine is one of them) cannot be used. Bush sticks must be researched thorughly before placing into your tank. Manzanita, malaysian, african root, bog are some that are commonly sold(and manzanita can be found as...

    10g Journal

Sometime this week I will be getting the new gravel for the tank and be doing kind of a switch with tanks as this one takes less space. But its still a livebearer haven :).

Well thankfully I talked to my cousin who haves more than enough room for one more. He has a 300g tank with 3 of them so far and he thinks they are great. He came and got it yesterday and so I was happy. Now Im in more of a bind cause the only place around here I found that sells Slim...

    next tankmate(s) in 10g FW?

Rummy nose Tetras need more room than Zebra Danio's IMO. Try this 6-9 Zebra Danio's, The Oto's, Mystery Snial, 3 Cory's and a Dwarf Gourami. Add more plants like Anubias, moss, cryptocorynes, swords or aponogetons. The fish will feel more secure :)

    plant ID

Can you take it out and take a pic of its root system? The leaf structure is similar to Aponogeton's as well. Edit: I see that it does not really grow so it is definitely a sword :).

Right now he has alot of food haha. And he a plump one at that. But I know how fast these things switch attitudes and I am not wanting to see my almost all Black Betta or my very gold Marigold Varitus female be killed. I talked a manager at petsmart and employees at my old job. The manager at...

    Why Not Sunlight?

There is not. Because Bulbs are constant until they start loseing intensity and usually that change is subtle. Sunlight varies. So a formula could not be helpful as it would not work for many.

    Hello Fellow Fish People

Yeah I woke up to go to school and almost tripped on the box itself. She was suffering from malnutrition. And she did not like anyone but me. I would hold her in my lap and someone would walk by and she would hiss at them and then she would get on my shoulder and make clicking noises. I had to...

    Hello Fellow Fish People

I rescued my LeeAnn(Cockatiel) in the middle of winter 2006. I found her in a wet box with little food. She had no feathers and had a little crack in the beak. By last christmas she was fully back to normal. And she had bird communications as her cage is next to our parakeets.

    Why Not Sunlight?

Direct Sunlight is much more intense than our bulbs. The Sunlight will not make our plants grow very much but will cause algae to spread due to the intesity level. Algae needs a minor inbalance, such as intesity or micro ferts, in order to bloom. I will try to find a link to a discussion about...

    Bad Plant?

They sell at petsmartin the tubes: White Ribbon Plant(Dracanea sp.)-Terrestrial Argentine Sword Plant-Semi Aquatic Amazon Sword(In emersed form)-Aquatic Aqua Fern(Borneo Fern)-Terrestrial(High Humidity) Peackock Fern-Terrestrial Umbrella Plant(Spathiphylum wallisi {Peac Lily})-House Plant...

    Why Not Sunlight?

Direct sunlight would cause too many algae issues, even with fast growing plants. If you were to have sun light you would need to set up CO2 and a fert regime in order to keep algae under control. I found that a little indirect sunlight doesnt harm the tank very much but if you get algae that is...

    Black Phantom Tetras

Due to them eating the nematodes, did the feces look white and stringy? If not I do not think that they are the killers. Now if they had an internal parasite that would be your first clue. What was your acclimation time? For Tetras like Phantom, Neons, Bleeding Hearts, and a few more I found...

    My 55 planted - I hope!

Im going to try that with the "plate". All my fish eat the same food so that can make it easier. You have Cryptocoryne Wendtii from what the pics show as well.

The anacharis will be planted. That is how I currently have mine growing and it just started taking off after a couple of weeks of acclimating. The Java Ferns will be tied down to rocks or along the driftwood. There wont be Cryptocorynes in this tank but eventually Anubias, Mariselia or HC, and...
