I have a problem with green hair algae on my live rock and don’t know exactly why. My tank has been up and running for 1 and a half years and I had not had a problem.
I have a 180 gal fowlr with 120 lbs live rock and shallow (less than 1 ½’), a 50 gallon sump with a refugium, skimmer and a Mag...
waste RO water?
My R/O unit is discharging much more waste water than the 4:1 ratio i thought it should. Is this because it needs to be replaced? Mt TDS is still at 0.
I have a growing problem. My eel needs be removed from my tank. I have a 180 gallon with 150 lbs live rock and he is out growing the tank. Any advice on catching him without taking all of the rock out, I am figuring not. I have put two lengths of 2" pvc pipe in to try to get him comfortable with...
I will try that, the fan is 12 volt now and has its own transformer. I did get a adjustable speed control for my fans on my nano tank. I will have to fine one that is 2" to fit in the fixture.
The red algae could be from the tank being new and the cycling is not done, or lack of flow in the bottom of the tank. I use two nano power heads in my tank aimed down. I had good results. I did siphon as much out at waterchanges and it has not returned.
How long has the tank been running?
Just got new Current Nova Extreme light fixture. it has 4 -48" t5HO bulbs on two seprate ballasts. The cooling fan has it own power cord and transformer. The amount of air movement/ noise is really loud. Has any one else had this problem and a solution? I am thinking a different fan? has...
I found ro water fo $.50 a gal. and bought 80 gal. to expidite the fill time. like you in the past I used tap water, from a well and always had the algae in the begenning, but it always worked itself out. and i have had the same results with ro/di water as well. I expect the same this time...
I plan to follow these guidlines , my bio cube took about a year to settle in. The only part I am not sure about is the fuge section of my sump. I was planing to use mud to as a base for the algae. Do I put the mud in right away to hellp with cycling. I think this would help. I did not plan...
I have 60 gal worth of 5 gal buckets in my truck now. when I finnigh work today I am going to speed this up by oging to the LFS. The tank was only up 2" overnight. I will go crazy watching the slow progress. what do you pay for 5 gallons of R/O water?
thanks,
I figured this to be the case. I have the 50 gal per day RO/DI unit. I might as well start off with the best water conditions I can. I just know it is going to take days to fill! Im going to get 30' of hose and put it in the tank with my auto shut off.
I have run my new salt water tank for 4 days with tap water to check for leaks, all has been sorted out. I was planning on emptying the fresh water (from the tap, has A tds of 110ppm) and re filling with RO/DI water. A LFS said that i dont have too because I am not putting any coral in,and i...
It all made sense suddenly!!! I used the valve on the discharge to slow the water way down till onlt 1/2 the tee was showing. It is quiet. I will install the tee in the return to keep full flow from the pump. Do i dump the excess in the overflow return. or does it make no difference as long...
Here is a few pics of the stand pipe and sump. I think the water is too high in the tee. If i installa tee and valve do return the excess water to the return in the sump ot the skimmer chamber or other?
Have a stand pipe that i cant get quiet. I have a 1/4" aprox. hole in the cap and still seems to be sucking air. I have drilled more holes in other test caps with little improvement. If i cover a little bit of the 1/4 " hole it sucks the water down below the tee and looses prime then surges...
I have decides to buy a 4 4' t5 current fixture. Seems like it is more compact and easly installed/moved than diy. I think i will use my old 660 and 360 ice caps for next project. now i need to return the reflectors and end caps i purchased for the project. I have spent more than $150.00 on...
