Today I went to my lfs looking for some food for the fishes when boom I see this huge fish called a redheaded cichlid. I had no idea what it was are they common etc he sold it to me for 20 bucks Canadian. I have it in a 55g with mbuna I no not the same kinda fish but they all seem to get along...

Very new so be gentle here. I just bought and have set up 55g tank, the lighting came with 2 23inch hoods plastic crap ones I would like to know what to buy that wont cost an arm and a leg for lighting. Any suggestion etc wattage for that size of tank. Thanks . the tank is exactly 48 inches long.

I just ordered 2 of these guys any one here no much about them diet etc I no they are lake malawi mbuna but any input would be great. I also got 2 more yellow labs and 2 sunshine peacocks coming the same time.

Just got a 2215 and very new to canisters all went well had it running in 13 min or so. My question is i have noodles on the bottom blue pad than cocoa puffs carbon pad than white pad. I have no idea if that is the correct way to put it in and also how often do i clean this and ion what order...

I have noticed my male kenyi with white poop coming out of his bottom. I removed him from the tank to another, and this morning his anus is inverted I think I will have to uthanize him ******.

I returned the hex tank and got a 55g here are some pics. I am now just letting the cycle take affect before transferring by fish from my 30g. Also waiting still for my 2215 eheim should be in tomorrow that should be an adventure you might see a help thread tomorrow lol. Any suggestions are...

I was wondering are they the same fish. I fell in love when i saw the Livingston at pet smart and they said they can be kept in a 40g tank but i think they get big fast and need something larger. My question is Can i keep 1 male in a 46g bowfront tank nothing else in there perhaps a pleco.

Well it is official I went and got a 46 g bow front stand and eheim 2215 filter. My question is this 2215 enuf for the tank or do i add more hang on filter etc. It is for around 12 mbuna cichlids.

Any input on this filter and is it enuf for 44 hex tank.

This is a temp tank I was at the pet shop and they were selling off cichlids for 10 bucks each so here I am. Here is the pic just remember bigger tank is on the way end of the month. Pointers are welcom I am learning.

Just wondering I have never had a canister filter before is a aheim 2215 enuf for a 44 g tank. its says its rated for 95 g but I have kinda researched on the net and they say the are some what underpowered. Love to hear any input.
