    Need help!

I have one of the old eheim classics, and I am not too fond of it. It was difficult to prime IMO.

    Need help!

My canister filter just stopped working, and I need to get something quick. What would be a good filter for a 75g freshwater tank, with no plants and just community fish? Preferably something quiet, but I'm not really in the position to be selective right now. TIA!

    What have I done!!??

Here is the deal, he is either going to keep the fish or he isn't. While the most responsible thing is likely to take the fish back, he decided he is going to keep them, who knows, maybe the LFS wont take them back (the ones around me have reservations regarding these types of things). So, if...

    What have I done!!??

Don't buy LS if you are scraping by for money. The LR will eventually feed base sand substrate. That should save you some decent cash. I normally don't recommend it, but in your case if you want to keep your fish healthy, I would recommend getting the new tank, transfer everything, and add...

    What have I done!!??

I'm not sure about the lobster, but I'm pretty sure that 2 clowns is way overstocked for 5 gallons. What are your test parameters (ammonia, nitirite, sg, etc)? edit: also, a LFS may be able to but the clowns back from you, and perhaps the lobster as well. It also looks like the lobster gets...

    Temp question for a nano

I have an oceanic 14g nano with 48w lighting. I plan on getting an o.clown fish, clown goby, firefish, a couple snails, a cleaner shrimp, a couple red scarlet crabs, and some beginner corals (shrooms, leathers, zoas). My only problem so far is the temp. From my understanding snails and inverts...

    Stocking a 14g nano

Thanks everyone. I don't think it is a different species, I think it is just a baby.

Live aquaria's nano soft coral pack

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'm going to do it, and I'll post pics when I get them. If anything I can sell back some that I don't want to the LFS.

Live aquaria's nano soft coral pack

The LFS around here charges $60+ just for frags. I have a 14g oceanic nano with no corals so far, and the live aquaria's nano pack seems too good to be true. For $120+shipping I can get 8 nano corals, here is the link for those interested...

Carbon placement in 14g oceanic nano.

The problem is that the water level is only to the level of the pump. It is odd how oceanic did it, but essentially there isn't room for anything in the 3rd chamber.

Carbon placement in 14g oceanic nano.

Is it safe for the carbon and mesh bag to touch the heater? The problem I have is the oceanic has 3 chambers. The 3rd chamber is the return pump and actually doesn't hold much water. The second chamber is wet/dry, which is filled with live rock rubble and a drip plate. The first chamber is the...

    Stocking a 14g nano

Wow, great idea. The clown goby is smaller. Is there anything else I can safely put in there with the clown goby?

    Stocking a 14g nano

Just picked up an oceanic 14g nano and put in ~12 lbs of liverock and ~5 lbs of live rock rubble. After it is cycled I'm going to pick up what the LFS calls a nano clownfish, which is basically a very tiny Ocellaris Clownfish (I realize they will get bigger). I also plan on keeping some easy...

    Water level and livrock/corals

Thanks, I was concerned that I was killing the rock. Perhaps 10% each week will work out, I'll see if everything ends up happy.

    Water level and livrock/corals

I'm setting up a 12g JBJ nano, and the liverock goes nearly to the top. So if I do a 25% or more waterchange, some of the rock is above the waterlevel for about 10 minutes. Is it ok for liverock to be temporarily exposed? What about corals?

    Good place for liverock?

Thanks for the suggestion theatrus. The rock is mostly brown with little coloration and minimal coraline. Compared to the rock I got at liverocks.com, it's like night and day.

    Good place for liverock?

Liverocks.com seems to be not selling rock right now. Any other good places for some nice liverock? I'm trying to get some for my 12g nano, and the rock at all the LFSs around here is dead.

I think snails are food for almost anything, if they're not busy killing themselves.

How do i get my temp down

I don't see why fluctuation is bad. We always talk about emulating NSW conditions, and a 4-10 degree fluctuation from peak-day to low-night would seem normal to me, and likely preferable to a constant temp.

    MH pricing

Probably won't get much cheaper than that without getting junk. There is a setup here for $5 more with a 10k bulb, not sure what spectrum bulb your setup comes with. However I am very happy with the coralvue bulbs...
