    Sick Angel; Never Seen Before

Yeah we added something like that, because the label said to change 20% of the water after. HA. We needed 60% just to get back to normal. The outbreak wasn't even that bad. And I've never heard of adding garlic, I'll look into that. *Actually, we have frozen Formula 2, if you know what that...

    Sick Angel; Never Seen Before

Thank you for the reply. We tested for ammonia again about 5 hours after we added the bacteria. Practically none. However, red pactches began to appear on her scales late morning. We snooped around and found out it was an ammonia burn (finally, a diagnosis). However, she is beginning to swim...

    Sick Angel; Never Seen Before

My Queen Angelfish was a monster two days ago. She ripped up seaweed, swam great, and had awesome coloration. We added a phosphate remover to deal with a red algae problem, and after three days we added the algae killer (two days ago). We tested for ammonia, and the results came about .5 mg/L...

    Eating or Cleaning My Angel?

Hey, it's been a while since I posted on here (almost a year :hide:) and the site looks great and healthy. I came back with a question: I have a Rock Beauty, small, only about 2.5 inches, and I purchased it about two weeks ago. This tank has been running for about two moths, and before I left...

Converting my closet into a large fish tank

Really don't mean to drag you down, but you'd also have to consider how you would access it. Make sure you have some room at the top.

    Fry food

Another thing you can do for small fry is take the yolk from the egg, wrap it in a rag, and lightly swish it around in the water.

    Milky water after tank move..

You also may have: - Kicked up bacteria resting in your substrate, if you have not be cleaning it. - Not rinsed the aquarium rocks before adding them.

    Fry food

Feeding fry is hard to do. What kind of size are we talking?

    Surprise, surprise they are alive

Congratulations! Infusoria is a cheap, nutritous fry food made easy. Place a banana peel in aquarium water (keep a lid on it). As it decays, microscopic organisms, or infusoria, feeds on the detritus. The infusoria makes nutritous fry food, but this process takes a week or two.

Incredible! The picture of the Powder Blue Tang with the Yellow in the backround is amazing.

    M. boesemani eggs/fry

The first of the fry have hatched! I can see about 15 of them. It is Day 2 of the 3 day hatching period for these rainbows, so I hope to see a few more. They are tiny, clear, and hard to photograph. The only visible body parts I can see is the eyes and yolk sac.

    I am REAL Mad

Feeder fish live in a crowded environment only to be eaten alive. The goldfish and minnows that die like this are just to the misfortune that they are cheap and not very colorful. I would not be able to handle my favorite fish do the same. However, if they became easier to breed and cheaper...

I've always loved Praecox, and I wish I had another 3 footer to try another rainbow species.

Missed that it was reef! Beautiful fish regardless, both color forms.

    My Six-Line

I would reccomend a Paddlefin Wrasse. Got along fine with my tomato clown, and you wouldn't believe how much evil can be packed into a Tomato clownfish kept solitary for 6 years.

No problem. They are beautiful fish! Tell me if you get one. ;)

    Need Stocking Ideas!

If you want a Queen or a Blue, my suggestion would be buying it young. My Queen Angel has transformed from blue and white to a complete yellow-orange, and that journey takes a good two years in itself. The fish, considering it is properly stocked and cared for, won't start feeling stress for at...

    M. boesemani eggs/fry

*Pictures are in thumbnail format at bottom of post, sorry! Following the set-up of our 65 gallon aquarium and transferring over the rainbowfish and community, I still have about 40% stocking left. I've been itching to expand my bosemani rainbow shoal, so instead of buying some at an...

    Algae resolution?

Really? I knew they weren't nearly as nutritious as the young, but still... We don't feed the adult brine shrimp often, rather to stimulate the appetite of the larger chromis and tomato clown. Everyone else is practically vegetarian! When the food hits the water, we have to make sure everyone...

    Algae resolution?

Update: The Algae is almost completely gone! It took quite a few steps and time... but we managed. 1. Added a protein skimmer. 2. Cut down lighting; completely cut off white lighting. 3. 40% PWC and manually removed some algae through a siphon. 4. Added a Yellow Tang and a Mimic Tang, who are...
